The Black Hawk College 幼儿教育 program has been approved as an entitled program through Gateways to Opportunity. Courses taken at Black Hawk College support the attainment of the following Gateways Credentials: Levels 2, 3, 和图4; Infant-Toddler Credential Levels 2, 3, 和图4.

Students must successfully document 和 meet all health 和 background checks required by academic programs 和/or courses.

Students who complete this program will be able to:

  • Create an individualized instructional plan for a specific child based on his/her strengths 和 weaknesses, as informed by both st和ardized assessment 和 research-based developmental domains.
  • 开发 和 实现 developmentally appropriate health, safety 和 nutrition activities.
  • 开发, 实现, 和 evaluate a preschool lesson plan for each of the learning domains (math, 科学, 社会研究, 语言, 读写能力, 艺术, 健康与安全, music 和 movement) that incorporates evidence-based practices in content 和 delivery methods.
  • 评价生态的作用, child 和 teacher factors in the social emotional development of children 和 how to make changes in the classroom environment to improve child outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge 和 application of professionalism in early childhood education as indicated by image, behavior 和 dispositions expected of students receiving an AAS in early childhood education.
  • Assess 和 analyze family-friendliness 和 cultural competencies of the early childhood education program/environment 和 create associated improvement plans.
